In 2015, 1.2 million people in New Mexico had at least 1 chronic disease, 490 thousand had 2 or more chronic diseases. Chronic disease could cost New Mexico $12.8 billion in medical costs and an extra $5.1 billion annually in lost employee productivity (average per year 2016-2030).
